Position Title: Editorial Assistant

Working Location: Shanghai, China


The in-house editorial group of View is offering an Editorial Assistant position based in Shanghai for its portfolio of internationally-renowned, high-impact journals in materials science and human health.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Support in-house editorial office, oversee submission and post-acceptance processes of manuscripts
  • Assist editors, authors and reviewers with queries
  • Trouble shoot problems at all stages of the submission and review process
  • Ensure adherence to established best practices and ensure completion of manuscripts with appropriate paperwork
  • Generate and update activity reports on submissions, and usage reports on published articles
  • Facilitate and support miscellaneous and journal-specific projects within the in-house editorial group in Beijing and Shanghai
  • Maintain and update websites and social media channels of VIEW journal
  • Other tasks include general information search or compilation, travel coordination, basic translation, maintaining of databases and compilation of presentation materials

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Applicants for the position should be self-motivated, have excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), be diplomatic, flexible, and familiar with text and graphics computer applications.
  • Knowledge of Scientific Technical Medical journals publishing
  • In-depth knowledge of the science publishing market, community, trends, competitors, and authors is highly desirable
  • Excellent planning, negotiation and financial management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Good networking skills and business acumen
  • Strong presentation/public speaking and ability to engage with editors and authors
  • Highly self-motivated, achievement and team oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree highly desirable
