Wiley currently has a vacancy for an Administrative Assistant in its Beijing office.

We are seeking someone to provide administrative support to our Author Services Director.  The key responsibilities include compiling of journal statistics and reports, liaising with editors, referees, and authors, and attending to queries. Other tasks include general information search or compilation, travel coordination, basic translation, maintaining of databases and compilation of presentation materials.

The successful candidate will be fluent in spoken English and Chinese, have at least 1 year of working experience in administrative support, is competent in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and who is quick and adaptable.

The Materials Science group of Wiley is offering a Trainee position for the internationally renowned, high-impact journals Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, and Small.  You will gain on-the-job experience in many different aspects of publishing, such as the acquisition and development of journal content (both print and online), peer-review procedures, and contact with authors and referees from all over the world.

Applicants for these positions should have a PhD in chemistry/materials science/physics, be self-motivated, have excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), be diplomatic, flexible, and familiar with text and graphics computer applications.  The applicants should be fluent in Chinese and have an excellent command of the English language.  International postdoctoral experience and/or previous publishing experience would be advantageous.

The position will be based in Beijing.  The successful candidate will be trained in our Beijing office, but may spend some time at Wiley-VCH in Weinheim, a pleasant small town near Heidelberg in southwest Germany.

Wiley is a leading global publisher in China and we now intend to continue our marketing expansion by recruiting a Senior Marketing Executive.  Reporting to the Associate Marketing Director for Physical Science, you will be responsible for implementing marketing strategies to build Wiley’s brand in the Chinese author, scientist, professional and student communities in China.  Working with marketing, editorial and sales colleagues, you will implement Chinese-language end-user and author marketing campaigns via email, web, search engine optimization, social media and print platforms to effectively promote our key journals.  You will roll out marketing and discoverability programs to drive usage, authorship and revenues.  You will work with external media to effectively market and communicate Wiley’s brands and values to the communities.  You will also reporting on campaigns and activities each month, identifying trends and noteworthy results and track the effectiveness of our campaigns.

      Requirements:

  • Degree in marketing.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in marketing.
  • Innovative with strong enthusiasm to initiate marketing ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills and able to meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese.
  • Working experience within the publishing industry would be an added advantage.
